    bought a savage axis 223

I want to see how accurate i can get a 299 dollar basic axis 223 and a wall mart 80 dollar center point scope shooting cheap ammo. Anybody can spend thousands getting accuracy. One problem is i never considered myself a disciplined good shot.
I had this same combo two years ago and at 100 yards it was pretty impressive.
I will post pics as soon as i go to the range next time.

I have an axis II in .223 and it is very accurate when the scope is dialed in and the right ammo is used

Nice rifle and very accurate with the accu-trigger. The only problem I've seen is POI shift after the barrel heats up. Great varmint hunting rifle to carry in the woods, less of a target gun for repeated shooting.

Hard to beat that rifle for the money. A friend has one with a Mueller APV scope. It is so accurate to the point that it is boring for him to shoot.
          An example:
One of those "Watch this" shots. We were out at the Desert and set up all kinds of targets. 16oz water bottles, oranges, apples, potatoes. Hey we like to know if we hit something. He set up some of those little juice boxes the kids drink too. Some out to 300 yards. We were blasting away hitting the targets in close. He was shooting his Axis prone with a bipod. He said, "Watch this".
He drilled one of those juice boxes dead center at 300 yards!! That is with a Axis with a sporter barrel and the regular out of the box non Accu Trigger. The barrel was hot when he did that shot too!! An amazing rifle for sure!

Finally got a chance to shoot my Axis 223. Using cheap Tula & american eagle ammo and my WM center point scope off my Savage 22 i got some pretty tight groups at 100 yards. The only problem was a pretty stiff trigger pull and break. When i got home and cleaned it i cut 2 coils off the trigger spring and a VERY light polish job [ 1500 W&D sand paper ] . She now breaks nice and clean [ Not grainy ] at about 3 1/2 lbs. The scope works fine but the optic picture is not great.the main thing is the rifle is doing its part. Cheap ammo, cheap scope and a so so shooter are the main drawbacks to a otherwise excellent bargain rifle. Very pleased

I love mine, it shoots sub-MOA with the right ammo and I have put prairie dawgs down out over 400 yards.
Fear is the spare change that will keep you broke
