Admittedly I'm also curious about the "Big Breast Current Year" paperwork under the stock of the rifle in the second picture...'

What kind of store are you buying this at?

Great gun store you went to! I stop in there from time to time when I go to Yuma. I wasn't able to make it for the dove opener this year but me and a buddy are planning on going to Yuma for the second dove season. It's nice going to a state that welcomes hunters with open arms rather than an army of game wardens waiting and itching to write you a citation for any little violation.

I think that is their yearly dove hunt weigh in contest.
Had similar when I lived in MO at local hunting club

Also the rifle receiver will take a good cerakote. Everything else should take a good bluing.

I have a late 70s model or atleast bought in late 70s that my dad had bought then.It was passed onto me years ago and i thought about refinishing it the stock has some wear and small knicks the receiver has some pitting although not much but to me it gives it an older look and its a shooter for me as all my guns are.

just use it as is and enjoy.

Receivers on post 64 top ejects and some early angle ejects were of some weird graphitic cast steel and required iron plating to blue them. Some were black chromed. None of them will take a caustic hot blue without re plating with iron, and that is not readily available in the gun refinish world. They will rust blue quite nicely after the iron is polished off. Or just leave it be and enjoy it's character.

No refinish for mine, it has been the way it is for a long time.

That receiver looks like it could let go at any time.
