No doubt that the 16" barrel is handy, but the 20" barrel seems to balance a little bit better, and holds more rounds. But they do look really nice in SS.

Did the paperwork for my 1894 and put it in jail yesterday. Got to fondle it for the first time. It exceeded my expectations for sure. Action was smooth and very clean and everything felt tight and solid. Fit and finish looked great too. Bluing could be deeper and more polished and.the stock could use some more finish for protection.

But all in all I am very happy with this Remlin. We'll see how it shoots!

I love shooting 357 magnums and I too was looking for a Marlin 1894c for a long time and couldn't find one. I ended up shooting the 1894c and Henry big boy steel .357 side by side on a desert outing. The the big boy won out. In my opinion the fit and finish was much much better, availability was there, and the owner of the 1894c had jamming issues which he had to ultimately send the rifle back to Marlin for. I also personally find the big boy easier to load. The Marlin owner said next time he'd opt for the Henry. Just my 2 cents, YMMV., if you're really set on it then I wish you luck being able to find one.

Yeah I intended to get the Rossi till I glanced at the website. I will probably pick up the 92 till they reintroduce the Marlin then whichever I prefer I will hand the other to my daughter as her first gun probably.

Good idea..! Gifting our kids guns makes perfect sense.

These guns will outgrown her grandkids and set a legacy for future generations.

                Be well

I hope the quality issues have finally been worked out......I had one a few years back, and it was absolute scrap iron. Now if only Miroku of Japan would start production, we would see some real quality show up. My Winchesters that they have produced are absolutely superior to anything that ever came out of New Haven.

I'll add this. I called Marlin Customer Service and asked about whether there would be a revamped 1894C. The answer was a non-committal "Maybe in 2017." At this point, I'm thinking either a .357 Henry Big Boy Steel or a Marlin .44 Mag 1894.

Miroku never made Marlin's guns, but they still make guns for Winchester. You can buy Miroku made pistol cartridge Winchester 1866, 1873 or 1892. There are plenty on Gunbroker at decent prices.

Here ya go Bob. Not the best pics, but I got some of the fitment around the tang. Everything is tight and true, just a bit proud on the sides. Finish is matte and light machining marks are there. But none of that bothers me any. Action is real good and will definitely get better with use. Sights are straight, bands, checkering, screws and all the miscellaneous looks like it should. I don't think there is any doubt about the new Remlin 1894/5's. At least not to me.

Wonder what the holdup is? There are people willing to pay for the Marlin but Remington ain't making them. While the reasons have been discussed, it seems like they don't really care.

It took them this long to get it right with the few variants/calibers they are currently producing, and you want to throw a monkey wrench in the works to get a .357 out of them?

Yet Marlin is still making lever actions in other calibers, so what seems to be the hold up? Sounds like they are reluctant or just don't want to make the 357 for whatever reason. Oh well, looks like there are plenty of options.
