    Affordable 7.62x39 rifles?

I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to a CZ 527. I've read that Ruger and Remington made rifles chambered in this round, but they are all discontinued. Any other options out there?

Will mainly be used for plinking. Preferably in the $400 range.

(While not manually operated, I like Saigas, but can't justify the $600-$900 marketplace prices for them)

Zastava makes one, but I hear the quality isn't good. Thats why I went with the 527.

Not gonna find one in that price range. If you could find a new one they're selling for 699-799. Used ones are asking the same price because they've stopped importing them until they fulfill sone contracts outside the us.

Did not know they stopped importing them.
Guess I'm going to get one tomorrow if they still have it.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Do you have n AR lower? If you do, it might be better to just get a 7.62 upper and good mags.

Remington made them in model 799.
Savage had some as well as ruger with the boat paddle.
                  Pretty rare.
I don't know why they don't make more by actions in that caliber.
I'm having a hard time finding a nice 35 Whelen which is another rare one.
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Guy asks about bolt action rifle, maybe to companion with a semi auto, and people suggest semi autos.

The Zastava Arms M85 "Mini Mauser" in 7.62x39mm are typically around $500.
But, low production/importation rates makes it hard to find.

I say bite the bullet and go with the CZ527

If you have money to burn, I try and find an AIA M10-A2.
They are super rare, due to less than 1000 being imported into the USA before being banned from importation.
About 8 years ago, used ones were selling in the $700 range. Not sure what the price would be now.

I agree with above - just buy the 527.

I wanted one for a long time but couldn't find out so I bought it in 223 and ended up selling it. Finally now I see them in stock. My nearest Turners has one on the rack and Davidson Guns has them in stock.

If 7.62x39 is your cartridge then just bite the bullet and get the CZ!

Check Jackson Arms store front thru Davidsons Gallery of Guns. Their price is $794 including tax & dros. That's a great deal!
