    Age limit for barrelled action?

How old do you have to be to buy just the barrelled action in CA? I know it's 21 for an AR lower but how about the barrelled action for a bolt gun?

Federal laws prohibits a FFL in transferring firearms to persons under the age of 21.
The only exemptions to this is for Title 1 Rifle and Title 1 Shotgun to persons age 18-20.

      A receiver is a Title 1 Other.

A "barreled action" is typically a receiver with a barrel attached, this is still be a Title 1 Other, because it does not meet the definition of a Title 1 Rifle or Title 1 Shotgun.

Therefore, the minimum age is 21.

That was my dilemma because it's not quite a receiver and it's not a complete rifle

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

            Interesting,
I called two local gun shops and received the same answer...That it was 18. I was told that if it was just the receiver then the age limit would be 21; however, once the barrel is attached to the action, it becomes a rifle and is sold as such.....

plenty of FFLs are not knowledgable about how the 21 rule applies to all firearms, except for rifles and shotguns. just because something has a barrel doesn't make it a rifle.
