Yeah, at a "discounted" $6,300 there's a lot of margin in there.

Maybe one day we can get an M2010 clone for five grand....

And tomorrow if M2010s go on sale for $880 a piece brand new in box, how many of us would wait because the price might go further down next week?

You're kidding, if it's $880 a piece, brand new in box,... I would buy 3 of them to keep. Hell, even if it's half the price right now I would buy one asap.

Like a previous poster said, if you want new call Eurooptic and if you pay cash you will get 10% off the retail MSRP price. I got my AT .308 and AXMC .338LM from them at a price lower than what is advertised. But also keep in mind, that if you buy new and have it shipped to CA, you will also have to pay the sales tax on the gun which will make the discount you get almost a wash.

The AI rifles are built like tanks so I would recommend definitely looking at getting used, you will save some cash and avoid paying the sales tax on a new rifle. Check out snipershide, a couple pop up here and there.

If you are interested in a used AXMC, Euro Optic has one in their used section for just under $6k, unless it sold.

Damn, they're spendy.... Buy used and you pay for the rifle, buy new and you pay for the name.
That ad is interesting. See the note on the discontinuation. It suggests that the newest AIs have smaller firing pin holes. I was not aware of this change. However, that is HUGE. The AI rifles with the prior bolt have a big firing pin so they must stay large primer, with the exception of the 308 Lapua Palma that seems to work with the small primers as long as you don't have a really hot load.

I'd be interested in hearing the results if someone has a new bolt and has pushed a small primer case, like a 6 BR or Dasher, and what the results are.

As far as being spendy, they are, but quite a lot of operators prefer them to anything else out there. When you see the tactical Savages being sold at $2,500, the AI is a relative bargain in value at $6,000. Personally, if I were buying a new AI, I'd probably go with the AT over the AX for the cost savings as I don't really care for the frills of the AX over a more basic model.

The small firing pin hole came about because of a metric ton of complaints on over pressure with small primers. I really wanted to go 6.5 lapua but chose not to because of the number of complaints from people that did and had issues pushing it to normal speeds.

They had to make alterations to the bolt which in turn killed their warranty.

Like JMP, I don't see a $2K advantage on the AXMC over the AT... except for perhaps using the rail to position in a barrier or more difficult position so your barrel doesn't touch.

It's too bad they don't have the 338 version on sale like that. I'd pick one up in a microsecond.
