Its not hard, but some bi-pods load easier than other. Atlas being one of the best for laoding.

All your doing to taking the slack out of the bi-pod by putting your bodies weight into your rifle. Do not lean into it to using muscle. Your body should be free of all muscle tension. Use your weight to drive against the recoil. Some of us that easier than it i.s for others, lol.

              Common Sense

Before you do anything. Consider this. What surface are you shooting off of ? A full power 30-06 in a light hunting rifle is a recoil generator. No way around that. And setting it on a bipod on a CONCRETE shooting bench is a recipe for pain and recoil. Set the same rig bipod included on the ground, soft ground, a shooting mat, doesn't matter. You get less jump and less effect. Just think about it and watch someone else shoot YOUR GUN AND YOUR load. Watch what happens. I shoot almost the same recoil recipe in my 8x57. On a bench I shoot off sand bags. No jump. Plenty of recoil.

If you want to see groups, use bags off the bench. And as said in this forum over and over, the light hunting barrels heat up quickly and groups open up. If you want to practice hunting shots, take bipods shots off the ground.

OK lots of stories and advice posted here, but I gotta ask a question which may or may not fuel the fire. Do your bi-pod legs fold forward against the barrel or back against the stock. They should fold forward.
