    Troy PAR?

Thinking of getting the troy PAR with the folding stock. Hear it's a pretty good rifle and accurate, especially with the new ban coming around. Anyone know someone who sells them or do I have to have an FFL order one?

Im thinking about something similar-a pump ar. Can use it as a pump, no registration, and can always swap the upper when out of state.

I have seen one in person here at a local LGS in The Bay Area (Imbert and Smithers). I actually had no idea what I was looking at, at first. Been seeing good reviews on it. I go there every week or so to look around, but it's no longer there. I suspect it can be (special) ordered.

Vpravada, not sure you can swap the upper with the Troy PAR,
But I read this post a while back that someone was making something similar:

Ended up ordering an Ares SCR...

      Good luck fellas.

If you want a pump AR, make your own with a UMOS kit (contact information is at the end of that thread).

Anyone seriously thinking about a pump action AR should take a rem 870 or mossy 500 and try to put a dozen "mags" down range as fast as you can. Contrary to popular belief and movies shotguns are very capable of jams/malfunctions. And that's with a tubular mag that they are designed for. AddiNg AR mags to the mix...

I've looked at the PAR. Seems to be highly reviewed. From my research it seems like the .308 models sell for a lot less than the .300 blk and 5.56 models, which is odd, but whatever. I would recommend a .308, they take AR-10 mags. It seems like the 16" models are common, but the 20" rare. I like a longer tube personally, just me.

I bought the Troy PAR (.223) with the folding stock earlier this year. It's very accurate and functions well. My only complaints are that the end of the folding stock slides off of your shoulder and the rifle weighs about 11 oz. more than the published weight of 6 lbs.. The stock issue can be fixed by applying some 3M grip tape to the butt of the stock. As for the weight issue, I called Troy about it and they verified that it's true but still haven't updated their website to show the actual weight.

I bought mine since the AR's in CA are soon to be regulated out of existence and wanted to get one before everybody else jumps on the bandwagon. I had to order mine through my gun shop since nobody seems to stock them in my part of CA.

Oh, by the way, the upper/lower is not interchangeable with standard ARs.

Scr will fulfill the requirements for next years laws. If you get just the lower you simply need your current upper and your bolt. Save the pump for when they ban semis all together. By then hopefully Remington or more other companies brings out their offerings too.

Well, if Remington comes out with one, I can guarantee you which one will be universally laughed at for being absolute trash.

I learned my lesson about Remington the hard way. Never again

The Remington 7615 was actually in production years ago... Pump rifle based off the 870 20 gauge that took ar mags. Never handled one but being based off the 870 platform, should be a good contender when that day comes.

Just looked up the PAR.308, seems OOS just about everywhere. Keep us posted on your experience.

The upper uses a proprietary bolt carrier (the bolt is a standard AR bolt). The lower has a bolt release mechanism that locks the bolt carrier when the magazine is empty. There is a rod that goes up through the lower in front of the trigger guard that is used to release the bolt carrier. Although the trigger is a standard mil-spec trigger, the hammer has to be compatible with the pawl on the bolt release mechanism or it won't work right. I tried replacing the trigger with a Geisslele G2S, but the hammer was incompatible with the mechanism so I had to use something else. The lower doesn't have a buffer or buffer tube either, so it can only be used on this gun.

Thanks for the posts everyone. Going to call some FFL's in the next couple of days starting tomorrow to see which ones will at least try to get one at their store along with a price quote. Ultimately I think I will be getting the Optics Ready .223 model, slap on a primary arms 2.5x scope and get a troy claymore to cut down on the concussion.

The SCR is interesting as well, but from handling both, the PAR feels a lot better. I have an SKS so a good semi auto rifle is filled for now. A pump .223 is more appealing especially with some reporting .5 MOA groupings.
