Lever Action 45acp exist? Which to get?

I want to get a lever action rifle BUT would prefer it's a 45acp sing I reload and really don't want to get new dies and brass. I already load for 7 calibers.

Are there any 45acp lever action rifles out there? I've seen a bunch of 45 colt.

No, but you can have an existing rifle rechambered to shoot .45 auto. For what it would cost you in smithing though you could buy new dies and brass several times over.

45ACP is not a good candidate for a lever action. You will generally want rimmed cartridges for feeding in a lever. That's why you see the 45 Colt as a common pick as are what you commonly see fired from a revolver.

Usually the deal is to get a lever rifle and revolver in matching caliber. Ruger makes a Blackhawk combo with both 45 LC and 45 ACP cylinders. I reload for 15 calibers and wouldn't blink to add another. Dies and brass a small investment compared to buying factory ammo once you got the rest of the equipment equipment and skill.

          You have two choices:

First choice - Winchester (or clones) Model 1873, fairly inexpensive conversion or brand new rifle for fair price. You will also get rifle that is already tuned with short stroke kit. I would keep barrel 16-18" because .45 ACP does not have enough powder for longer barrel. Rifles readily available from Cody Cowboy shop. http://www.codyscowboyshop.com/

Second choice - Marlin 1894 conversion, much more expensive then Model 1873, and personally, not sure it worth it, but then I like Model 1873 more then Marlin 1894. http://www.rangerpointprecision.com/...versions/c18ae

There are other choices, but they get complicated and expensive.

            Think I'll look into a 45 colt. I have a 45 colt revolver so that would make sense. A 30-30 looks fun and I cast/reload 30 cal, hmm....decisions decisions.

Found this Gent on YouTube. He's using Lee TL314-90-SWC as light plinking rounds in a .30-.30. Their single shot only since they are so short. Just an idea.

There's plenty of fun to be had with the .30-30, a bunch of boolits, and a pound of red dot.

Do you already own a .45 acp revolver?
I'd imagine there is a .45 auto rim lever action in existence somewhere but it would have had to have been made by a gunsmith of J.M. Browning caliber expertise. Modify the extractor and rechamber a .45 LC bbl, rework the timing and modify the carrier most likely to feed and work well. It would cost you a lot though... but the bragging rights!

Oh, you cast, do you? Well, in that case, if you should go .45 Colt, I would recommend this mould.

Available at MidwayUSA for around $40.

Remember, with the .45 Colt round, you can load magnum-style "Ruger-only" loads if you wish. Most modern leverguns, e. g. Winchesters, Rossi 92's, Marlin 1894's, etc. are strong enough to handle those stouter loads. Of course, the standard SAAMI .45 Colt loading won't even register on those rifles' Richter scales. :-)

For this reason, I don't see the benefit of going .45 ACP with a levergun. You wouldn't get a velocity increase like you would with a rimmed revolver cartridge (.357M, .44M, hot .45 Colt).

Never seen a lever chambered in ANY autopistol cartridges (9mm, .40, .45acp or otherwise) but I'm sure someone, somewhere has created some. I just doubt that there are factory offerings in those calibers.

As others mentioned, the expense of having a .45acp lever gun custom made far far far outweighs the cost of new dies and brass if you were to choose a common levergun round and just reload for it. I reload .357, .38, .45acp, and .45colt. I don't currently have a .45colt lever, but I'm working on getting one
