This is my favorite gun. it's my first. handed down from the family. it is a Springfield 1903 and its worth much more to me than what I could get for it monetarily. manufactured in 1936, this little beauty is a Remington tweaked battlefield reclaim. she's factory blued and I think...? they replaced the bolt? its definitely not original anyway. got leupold rings and a vx-2 on it. she came with a 2x big game scope that was pretty old but I knew she's fully capable of reaching out further. unfortunately the first guy I took her to was a garbage gunsmith and really did a number on it. didn't even notice the scope was crooked when he handed it to me. turns out though its not completely his fault. even more unfortunately the original scope mounts were drilled by Mr. Magoo so I had to have it drilled again and there's now a small threaded hole you can see in the top of the receiver. nobody ever noticed because there was such a low power scope on it. The stock looks to be hand carved and beautifully so, although I don't know the type. they don't make them like they used to. The history of this piece being that its an implement of war and somebody had this made into a moose getter...amazes me. its was probably an expensive rifle in its day to have it blued and get a custom stock. and its still in great condition! I very much enjoy shooting and cleaning this rifle and its an honor for me to take care of this rifle like it should be taken care of.
