URSA NorCal 2057 Yard Match

Shooters we had a smaller than normal turnout as rain was threatening to cancel our match.
As it turns out the weather was actually quite nice.
In our first match Calguns poster WhiteMamba got a hit on his first shot of a sudden death shootoff to beat two other shooters tied with him.

On our second match Mitch hit 5 out of 10 shots to easily best the field and take home his fourth win out of our last five matches plus earn an achievement point.
We were plagued with lighting issues as we didn't receive our upgraded modules from Kirk Roberts yet. I am hopeful he will have them to us in time for our next match.
At this match we placed the gong on the other side of the road and the new range distance was measured at 2057 Yards.
Congratulations to WhiteMamba and Mitch on there wins!!!

I hope you have better luck with him than I'm having. Paid in full for a system in early February, still nothing.


Hits in the gray area were impossible to see, white & reddish/orange area could be seen through my spotting scope.
Hence the desire for the light. 1805 yards with my .284 Shehane, aiming around a grassy area about 25-30' above the target.

Hey Rick when I talked to him he was getting a shipment of IDM Units in on Friday.
All we need is for him to adjust the units sensitivity so hopefully this won't become an issue.
If he flakes on me you can pretty much guarantee it won't be friendly.

Mitch has a good gun and his load is all dialed in. He is also a good Shooter.
Skkeeter put a barrel on right before the match WhiteMamba shoots a different gun at each match and yours truly is still waiting on my reloading dies.
That said Mitch is thinking of going 338 Lapua Ackley Improved which will make him even harder to beat.

He's not picking on you, I had the same experience. September order of items that were presented as in stock, all the pieces didn't come until late January. Was promised a new ship date pretty much monthly.

Ordered a LabRadar, custom reamer from Manson, and custom dies from Whidden over a month later. All of those items beat the "in stock" IRIS system to my door.

There are similar stories in the SH group buy thread, and for the stocks he sells as well.

Oh, I know, I shot with him when he came down to SoCal. He is amazing with just a straight 338 Lapua.

As for your dies, doesn't Big Red have a good set? Or, do you use the Savage as your handicap.

Has anyone heard any updates from Peterson about their CheyTac brass that was going to come out in June?

Big Red has Mike Matters reloading dies so I am good to go on the 50BMG.
I would like to save that barrel for 3000+ yards.
No word on the brass yet either.

Oh, indeed, the turnaround time and costs of those giant barrels can be quite painful. I am still waiting on some work even though I cannot shoot for a while longer. Thus far, my strategy has simply been experimenting with various cartridges and components. Hopefully, later this year, you and your NorCal crew can come down again and we can get some shots on a proper 2 mile target.
