      Thanks all for the suggestions.

Decided on the shooting bags. If it doesn't work out, I'll try plan B (not sure what that is yet).

Just understand that that rear bag won't allow you to adjust your height by squeezing the bag... does that concept make sense? Also, you are stuck on the front bag for height adjustment as well. Always take towels to stack for that front bag.. FYI. Your Plan b is a rear squeeze bag and good bipod. You're welcome

There is no "practicing to become a long range shooter".
You just start shooting long range (beyond 600yds) and then you are one.
You can shoot at 100-200yds (short range) all you want and that's fine, but that won't ever make you a better long range shooter.

SO would a Harris bipod( pre loaded correctly) and a Protektor rabbit ear rear bag be sufficient for most applications? Or just get the $10 rear bag?

.22lr has 4x the wind drift of a 308 and the dope just about matches 4x longer distances.

You want a rear bag that allows you to adjust the natural point of aim of the rifle. So will it allow you to get the reticle on target? I switch angle of the bag all the time to meet my needs and ensure the natural point of aim.

Also, using a .22 at 200 yards is fine, but not the same thing. You don't get spin drift effecting it, etc. Plus reading wind at 200 is different then 1000. You can have multiple wind directions etc..

Don't spend any money at all. Get your hands on a burlap sandbag and fill to your desired height when you arrive at your shooting position. When finished shooting, or moving to another position, just dump it, fold up the bag, and stow in gear. You will not find a more stable front support for a rifle than a sand bag filled with dirt or sand. It works for shooting at any range, any caliber. I would suggest you go to a surplus store and buy an e-tool.

If you feel you need a rear support, do the same thing with an old sock. I used to use a sand sock way back in the day, but adopted a better technique for myself and have been using it to this day.

The above suggestions are cheap (free) and more effective than any store-bought, manufactured supports.

                        Or the recoil.
22's are SUPER forgiving, allowing bad habits to be formed that don't show up until shooting a gun that actually recoils.

Get a rear squeeze bag and a bipod. Harris 6-9 gold standard, pros and cons. Or get a Atlas V8, pros and cons.

Also, I suggest you just do a simple Google search on images for sniper rifles, PRS matches, etc.. no one uses a sled! Ha ha. All you need is a bipod and rear bag. Rear bag on midway is 10 bucks.

Learn how to load the bipod properly and using a rear bag you will be good to go. I suggest you take a long range class.

Also, don't make your own front rest. Most guys on here have little to no real experience with precision Shooting. Loading the bipod allows recoil management and returning to you Natural POA. Sandbags won't do that nor a sled.

Where are you buying a bipod and rear squeeze bag for $50?
Also the OP said he was planning on shooting 100 to 200 yards from a bench and not prone.
For Bench shooting a front rest is standard operating procedure.
I don't see many Sniper rifles or PRS rifles being shot at 100 yards in NorCal from a bipod on a bench.
Plenty of bad advise for sure.

I get most of my stuff wholesale. We're back though retail is 10 bucks on Midway. Amazon got some Harris bipods for 70 bucks 50 bucks depends. And I have spent some time on a bench and use a bipod and you can still load it from a bench . I drill a piece of wood down on the bench that way I can load my bipod on that. Especially doing some load developments
