Henry Big Boy Steel 357/38 *Range Report*

Just jailed a Henry steel in 357 (Grabagun $630).

The H12 Classic Rifle & Carbine carries forward the timeless appeal of a steel lever-action finished for real-world use. Built around a solid steel receiver and finished in a subdued matte blue, the H12 delivers a traditional look with a non-reflective, low-glare finish well suited to the woods, the range, and everyday outdoor work. Offered in five proven pistol calibers and two barrel lengths, the H12 platform gives shooters a wide range of practical options in a rifle built to be used, not babied. The matte blued steel finish provides a classic, understated appearance while reducing glare in bright conditions and standing up well to regular handling. Paired with genuine American walnut furniture, the H12 looks right at home in the field – honest, familiar, and purpose-built. The smooth Henry lever action cycles reliably and naturally, offering fast follow-up shots and the kind of balance that makes a rifle easy to carry all day. The H12 Classic is available in…

Never owned a lever gun, always wanted one. I looked seriously at the Rossi, but the lack of a drilled & tapped receiver for a scope was a deal breaker.

After I mess around with the stock iron sights, I'm going to add one of these:

Should be a fun plinker... or if I ever decide to go hunting, good for that too.

Just curious, but did you check Marlin?

Yes, considered a Marlin. Hard to find!! New ones don't seem to be available in 357. I looked at used Marlins, but didn't want to spend upwards of a thousand bucks.

These are an option too. They mount right on the receiver rail.

              Congratulation!
I just got mine out 10 days jail this morning. I bought one in .41 Magnum earlier this year, like it enough to overlook lack of loading gate, actually, tube is rather convenient, so I bought another one in .357 Magnum.
I put Skinner "BIG BOY" Express on my .41 Mag Henry and I plan to buy another one for my .357 Mag Henry. http://www.skinnersights.com/henry_rifles_18.html
Works really well at 100-150 yards, unless you just have to have scope.

Older true Marlins are worth it! Do not get the remlins as those will never go up in value, get a true JM gun. Will not loose money on those. I have 3 and they are all great shooters. I found one in 45 colt and it's my favorite rifle. If you spend any time on Marlin forums you will realize that only old original Marlins are collectible.

Inherited a Big Boy in .44 mag. Very fun to shoot...took my oldest son out with me and he couldn't get enough!

                    I like the 16" .357 carbine, nice!

Nice, I've been thinking about grabbing one of those as well. Nice having a revolver and rifle using the same ammo. Makes reloading twice as nice.

Nice! These seem like solid guns for the money.

                        I want one...but tube loading...no loading gate...arrrg...I'm so conflicted.

                          Nice!
I just bought the Big Boy in the .44.
But I might have to jump on this one as well.

The 16" is cool too. I debated back and forth on which one to get. In the end, I liked the look of the 20" better, so that won out.

If you like the large loop, you can get it for the 20". Henry sells them for $50.
