    Mossberg 464 Lever Action

    Greetings
Pulled my new rifle out of the box Saturday, and hit the range Sunday.
First impressions...I like it (duh, always wanted a lever action). I got 30-30 version. To this rookie, it is a nice action and the 30-30 is a nice round. Sighted in at 50 yrds, and did pretty well with the sights as is. A little low and to the left, but supposedly fixable.

Complaints and questions...there is a lever trigger stop that is mildly annoying. Skin on my finger was getting caught/pinched when I fully engaged the "safety".

I loaded the magazine to capacity (6) once, and the issue I had was with the port door not closing fully with the last cartridge. I know, with the last cartridge, you should be able to push the last one in, but it was very hard and didn't want to keep getting my finger caught in the door.

The above 2 are my first world problems. The sights, however. For the windage adjustment, it is a matter of loosening screw, and moving the blade by hand left or right. Not to accurate in my opinion. The elevation is moving a screw, so the whole thing ramps up on the barrel. It was loose, when I got home...so don't know where it exactly was.
So...what other kind of rear sight could I put on? I don't think I want a scope, I would like to keep it "traditional".

    Thanks

    Chris

Thanks...looking into the Skinner. Any thoughts/experience with Tech Sights for something like this?

        Nope!

However I do have experience with Williams and find the FP to be fine sight. The 5D is nicer, but unnecessary on a hunting rifle.
