    Mauser rifles?

I was wondering if anyone here knows if there are any plans for new production Mauser rifles to be brought here to the United States?

Ya they are priced beyond what I can spend right now.
I wonder how the M12 compares to a Sako

No idea; I don't have any experience with either.

If you are looking in a lower price range and still want to go euro, you may want to look at Tikka T3s and Steyr Prohunters. Under $700 at Buds.

If you search, there are a lot of happy calgunners with the Tikka.

My hunting rifle is a Tikka T3 in 7MM08.

And my 550, as well as several others I have handled, are very rough and have quality issues. My 550 in 375 H&H is also one of my worst shooting guns. I would take a model 70 over a CZ any day of the week. The newer FN model 70s are actually extremely nice rifles with every feature a serious hunter could want.

The Mauser M12s are very fine rifles, as are the M98s. One of the PHs at the lodge I was hunting at in Africa last month just bought a new M12 in 30-06. It was a thing of beauty, and the new 3-position safety is pretty trick. The short-throw bolt is awesome, and the first thing you will notice when you run the rifle. I would buy one if a happened across a good deal in the caliber I want.

But it is hard to beat that huge controlled extractor, controlled feed, FN cold hammer forged barrel, free floated barrel, 3-pos safety, adjustable trigger, and huge aftermarket parts that the model 70 brings to the table at half the price of the Mauser.

You might want to scour the older gunshows with trade in gun, lots of commercial actions and 1960's Ted Williams, sears, golden state arms, santa fe, mauser on commercial actions.

All very accurate if you upgrade wood, bedding, reblue, and flute the firing pins to speed up lock time.
