Accuracy problems with Ruger Precision Rifle in .308?

I know there is a 40+ page on Ruger Precision Rifle here, most saying they love it. But it's a mixture of 3 different caliber models. I would think different caliber models of the same rifle would have more or less same performance, but I've read posts and reviews saying that the .308 model is actually much more inaccurate than the 6.5 Creedmoor. Some say all the favorable reviews are for the 6.5 model, not the .308. Some reviews say .308 model shoots 2MOA.

For those that do have the RPR in .308, what are your thoughts on the accuracy? What kind of group sizes are you getting with the rifle?

Going to guess that it is mainly do to ammo. All the 6.5CM ammo at you LGS is going to be fairly primo stuff.

Now .308win. ..well there is stuff out there that makes Tula look like Lapua!

Id say that's a pretty spot on assumption.

I'm sure a fair share of the 308 buyers bought a 308 for ammo availability and price of ammo... id say its safe to assume those guys are not buying match ammo or loading their own... I'm sure they are feeding it with less than premium fuel.

I would recommend the 308 ammo for bolt guns.
The 7.62x51 spec ammo is typically loaded to lower pressures for autoloaders and older bolt guns.

Ruger were never known for competitive accuracy.

My .308 RPR seems pretty accurate

The attached picture is 7 shots at 100 yds, as we were sighting in a new scope on an RPR in .308. Federal Premium SMK, 175 grain.

Yes, it is only 100 yards, but also I am a terrible shot with a rifle. The gun makes me look almost competent.
