    Feedback on Boyd's stock

I'd like to get a Rem 783 and replace the stock with a Boyd's wood stock (https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/Produ...inate-finished). I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has done the same (or similar) regarding both operation of the rifle with the new stock (I assume it doesn't change) and aesthetically (i.e. quality/fit from Boyd's).

Planning on giving the rifle to my 16 year old nephew for his birthday next month (unless I like it too much and keep it). IMO, a boy's first rifle should be a Remington and have a wood stock.

I have a Boyd's stock for my 700. It looks great and fits perfectly. Can't beat the price.

I have used a lot of Boyds stocks. They are great stocks for the money but dont be surprised if it needs some tinkering out of the box. Fit, feel, and function should be improved over a plastic factory stock. Weight will be more as well as rigidness.

I suggest getting the adjustable cheek piece upgrade, imo its well worth the $60.

Have Boyd's stocks on Mossberg MVP, Savage 110, 98 Mauser and Remington 783. All dropped right in except for the Mossberg and Mauser I had to open barrel channel a little.

I have Boyd's on a Savage 110. I'd say it dropped right in and was shootable, but required some fitting and finesse to make it perfect. I eventually bedded the action as well.

They are nice. REALLY heavy if you go from the factory plastic stock to the wood, so expect that. But at least it doesn't flex like the factory Savage one does.

I've got two of the stocks in your link one is plain wood and one is laminated. Both have been bedded and both shoot exceptional.
I will post a picture of the standard wood.

This is Savage and Mauser, Boyds Prairie Hunter Stocks. Pics of Mossberg MVP and Rem 783 with Classic stocks are in your other threads.

I have one on a CZ 550 American as well as three different styles on three different .22s. All have dropped in without a problem.

Got a Boydd's semi inlet stock for a Ruger 44 Carbine. Stock took a bit to get too fit but I bought it that way for sake of figuring out how to mate stock to rifle action. From above reading and what I had found while researching them, you should have no issues with Boydd's.

Their Mosin stocks are pretty good and reasonably priced for what you get. I'd say buy Boyd's with confidence.

My son inlaw bought one for his Savage 22-250. It was way off. He had to spend a lot of time fixing it. His buddy bought the one for his Savage and it was perfect.

                        Folks,

I have a Boyds on my Ruger American Rifle in 7mm-08. Drop in fit, had to tweak the mag latch a bit. Free floated, 5 shot group .70 inches at 100yds. Signed A2

Great stock except I had to work the barrel channel (which is to be expected); in my case I had a bull barrel.

One of these days I'll have it bedded by someone.

You should bed stock for optimum accuracy, pillar bedding is better.
