Rossi's are fine. It's a poor mans Winchester so you can't expect them to be the real deal for the price.

I have a 16 barrel Rossi purchased back in 2013...the action was a little stiff and loading was painful. After 100 rounds it's slick as snot and loading is a breeze.

Will you have an issue with Rossi? Maybe? As someone said above, the new ones are great. If you want a gun to shoot and not worry about, the Rossi is it.

I would avoid any Marlins made within the last few years..."the freedom group" buggered all that up, though supposedly things are much better now.

Marlin currently doesn't appear to be making a model 94 chambered in 357. They're making them in 44 Magnum though. I had my LGS look and they couldn't find new ones in 357. They told me to look at gunbroker or elsewhere for used ones. Not sure if freedom group made any 357 Marlins but if they did they would be marked with Ilion,*N.Y. I don't think you want those since they're probably lemons.

Remember reading one of the various gun mags at a local Barnes & Noble last year. The article was about Marlin (Freedom Group) and how they where getting to release their .44 Mag lever. The article went on vaguely that they where working on the .357 Mag lever but had several setbacks and issues that they needed to resolve before bring it out in the market. In the end, the writer said after visiting Marlin factory he was impressed and knows that (Freedom Group) is serious about making quality firearms, yada yada.
