    looking to trade

im not that good at internetting, so I don't know if this is the right sub but anyhow I recently came into possession of a model 1853 navy colt revolver. manufactured 1863. matching serials. it was given a base appraisal value of 1050. does not fire. looking to trade it for a centerfire rifle. im very into functioning war pieces, lee enfields, mausers and especially m1a's. would anybody be interested in the trade? advice for going forward with this? am new to calguns.
    Thanx.

Go to the Marketplace Forum and post this as a WTT (Want to Trade)

Pictures are helpful and any knowledge of why it does not fire.

      Good luck.

Edit: Looks like someone moved it for you. Thanks mods.

Yes, photos. Why won't it fire? How's the cylinder lock up? Does the cylinder rotate? Is the hammer broken?

        What's the history behind it?

          Right - here's where it goes: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/f...play.php?f=332

When you create a thread there, you will get a 'format' that tells you what info is needed in the post.

Be sure to fill in the top, small box - the thread title - with info like "WTT model 1853 navy colt revolver. manufactured 1863" and include something that indicates your location in the title: ZIP code, Area code, city name ...

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

            answers for questions

So it does not fire for a couple reasons. One is, one of the nipples on the rear of the cylinder is not useable. Also, the hammer does not lock back in place. However the cylinder does turn when the hammer is pulled. My gunsmith said its... just showing its age. If he were to take it apart it would probably break hardware and ruin the patina. I originally took it in to try to get it firing but he said it would ruin not only the value but... just the piece itself. Why change anything with it. Will post pictures tmw. Its in my buddies safe. I'm near Sacramento.
