    250 Savage

Got some lead therapy today with my mod 99 in 250 savage. Not too bad for a 90 year old gun with open sights

Very nice. I have a 30-30 takedown, but I've caught 99itus, so I'm always looking for my next one.

Haha, This one's a take down as well. The lgs has its twin on consignment for 950 comes with dies and brass too. So tempting but I don't want to put it on a card right now.
3030 would be a great one to have as well.

$950 for a 250 Takedown seems like a decent price.
I see them in gun shows out here, but most of the time the price is crazy.

Here too, this one's been refinished I think which bothers alot of people. It's been there awhile hopefully it it'll be there a bit longer. It would be nice to have two exactly the same

99 in 250 is on my list. Like my 99 in 300. I prefer 99 action for rifle cartridges.

Can't wait to fire this one, too

I recently picked up a 1935 .250-3000. Brass and bullets arrived, but I'm still waiting on the dies to get here. Can't wait to fire it. Here's a pic.

Natchez has Jamison .250-3000 in stock. I bought some Hornady brass from Brownell's earlier this month.

I assume that was a reply to me.
Mine was made in 1924 and they were marked 1899 rather than the 99d etc models made later.
I don't reload for it and only hunt with it rarely.
I bought it for $250 from several gentlemen that were at a gun store trying to unload guns that belonged to a relative that had passed.
Evidently the store offered them less than $250 but it came with a couple of boxes of ammo.
The strange thing about this gun like no other iv'e had is that people keep giving me ammo for it, generally in vintage boxes and mostly silver tips.
The lot of ammo that came with it had about a half box of ap rounds and several times since then iv'e also been given ap rounds.
trying to research why there would even have been ap for a sporting round that never had a military use tuned up nothing.
As close as i can figure it has something to do with .308 development being based on the .300 savage but i have no real answer.
                      Anyone know? i mean you don't see .270 ap, or .243,.30.30 etc....why .300 sav.?

Maybe the AP was made for the OSS during WWII. They may have used it in the Remington 81.

Could be, or maybe law enforcement wasn't the 81 prefered by frank hamer?

Frank Hamer used a Model 8 when taking out Bonnie & Clyde, but he may have got an 81 later. The 81 wasn't chambered in 300Sav until 1940.
