I have a brass big boy in 45 colt. It's smooth as silk and a hoot to shoot.

      My wife wanted a lever-action. 357mag.
I got her this Henry :

Since it was an anniversary present I had it engraved :

And added the large loop :

She loves it. I haven't gotten to shoot it yet. But it was an excuse for me to buy my own .357mag :

        Lever guns rock

Btw, my Rossi's have loading ports, not tube fed
I'd have gone with a Henry, but they don't chamber it in 454 Casull. I thought about seeing if the 45LC could be moded to work, but found this one instead.
BTW the Rossi's have both tube and port loading..

I really love my Henry .22 lever. I would be all over a Henry in .357 if they didn't weigh so damn much. Since it's for your wife, weight is definitely a consideration. I haven't met a woman yet that likes a heavy rifle.

Consider a Rossi for it's lighter weight. It weighs something like 5 pounds versus something like 7.5 pounds for a Henry.

The problem with Rossi's is the loading gate versus a tube fed Henry. The loading gate is a pain versus a tube. Ideally, both makes should have both features.

A benefit of the Henry is it should work just fine out of the box. Rossi's often require some tweaking to make them run well.

How does your Rossi have tube loading? Mine doesn't.

I'd like to see them do that with all their 92's not just the 454

I see. Thanks. It appears it's an option. So you have to pay extra for it.

They should offer that option for all Rossi levers.

Neither did I. Course I only looked at the 454. The stainless are listed for a few more bucks, but I didn't notice any thing said about a loading port option. Only stands to reason Rossi making two different models. One with and one without....

Shot my Big Boy in .44 for the first time today. Love the smooth action and large loop, but definitely is on the heavy side.

                          I have the Big Boy in .357. I also have a 6" GP-100 and a SP-101 and a Dillon RL 550B.

The Big Boy is heavy but with a bench rest it is accurate. love it!

You have to go with Big Boy Steel to have decent weight. Brass receiver and octagon barrel add 1.5 lbs.

I'll keep that in mind. I have the .357 Big Boy and after about 45 minutes, I have to call it a day. It's silly heavy. In the market for a .45 LC Henry to go along with my Vaquero.
