    Henry Long Ranger

I just saw this. Thoughts? I think its a tad on the expensive side but I don't know much about lever action rifles. The notion of a magazine is nice. Definitely makes reloading easier.

Henry Long Ranger lever action rifle chambers .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, .243 Win, .223 Rem with a 6-lug bolt and detachable magazine.

but updates it with a geared action that drives a machined and chromed steel bolt with a 6-lug rotary head into a rear extension of the barrel for a strong and consistent lock-up from shot to shot to shot.

With side ejection and a lightweight aerospace alloy receiver, the top is drilled and tapped for scope mounts, and the bottom features a steel-bodied flush-fit detachable magazine
another lever gun for spitzer bullets.. great idea

I've been a fan of this concept for some time now

Looks interesting. Similar concept to Savage 99(internal mag; later ones had external mag option), Win-88, Browning BLR.

I've had opportunity to shoot a Browning BLR in 223; was a fun rifle to shoot.

I like the product, but prefer a traditional lever action's appearance.

I wish they'd put long range iron sights on it.

If they had put a fake magazine tube under the barrel, but instead housed a cleaning rod in it, I'd like the looks much better. If you didn't want the extra weight of the cleaning rod, just take the rod out for the hunt. Since it isn't a tube mag, you could probably get rid of the barrel band that held the cleaning rod tube to preserve accuracy.

You'd have to add weight by eliminating the barrel taper though. So maybe it's a bad idea.

          Just thinking out loud.

Like it, the fun of a lever but easier loading.
Have to see the retail price.

Cool concept but I would stick with the tried and true Browning BLR....IMO

What do you consider traditional? Savage 99 was from same Era as winchester 94; I would consider the sleeker look, feel, and balance of the mdl-99 as classic as a mdl-94 except the mdl99 is sleeker and sexier.

The savage 99, winchester 88, browning blr look great without a tube magazine.

I like my Marlin 1895 with octagon barrel, but my all time favorite is my Savage 99 with its sleek lines and rotary magazine.

Probably true, maybe even less. Even the Browning BLRs can be found in the $775-$900 range for the standard models (more for the White Gold or takedown models).

Another area where the Henry could be more cost effective is in the price of the magazines. I generally pay ~$60 for BLR mags in .223. But they are reliable. If Henry could create a reliable mag for their new gun, but sell it for half the price of a Browning mag, that would add up more potential savings for the Henry buyer.

I will have to agree with some comments above - Shooting pointy bullets at longer ranges using a lever gun is sure some fun!

consider yourself lucky with low cost of BLR-81 magazines..

the magazines alone for my Belgian pictured above are worth more than the rifle..

                            Browning BLR Pre 81 Magazine Mag .243 .308 .358

                            BROWNING BLR PRE 81 243 308 358 MAGAZINE

they were discontinued without factory or aftermarket replacement..

I also have an early 80's BLR81 in .308 but the magazines for that were about $20 in the mid 80's at Show Me Guns in Grain Valley..

both fine rifles that have been nothing short of accurate and reliable..

I consider the traditional look to be what 90+% of all lever action sales to be. Anything from the Henry in 1860, to the Winchester (and variants) 1866, 1873, 1876, 1886, 1892, and 1894. I don't care for levers from 1895 on. It appears I'm not the only one. Traditional levers by my definition outsell the more modern levers by at least 10 to 1.
