    Chinese Type 53 (Mosin Nagant)

Hi, I'm seeing what the value of a Chinese T53 Mosin Nagant would be these days, looking at a trade for my Glock, but I hear they are decent, but aren't worth that much.

Depends on the condition. Anywhere from 300-500. More if you have a rare one or something.

170-200. Not sure where 300-500 is coming from???? Not even a Russian M44 would command 500..

        M44s aren't really $200 anymore. Hell even a 91/30 isn't $100 any more.

Edit: thought you are right, probably 200-500 depending on condition, rarity.

Not worth a Glock unless it's 100% matching an not import marked. T53's didn't go through the mass refurbishment program that most Russian Mosins did, therefore most show significant wear and mismatched parts. T53's are the lowest value for Mosin carbines - even though they are just as good as their Russian counterparts. They sold for $79 in the last 2 years. A shoot able T53 in mismatched/average condition is a $175-$250 rifle tops.

I offered a guy on the market place 200.00 he refused which I think is rediclous for a type 53. It was in nice condition, much nicer than most I've seen. He wanted 240, but the guys on the Mosin Trader advised me 200 max. It was non matching numbers which is typical. I even offered 220. Still wouldn't budge. T 53s at that price point of 240 get you into the market for a forced matched Russian M44 which is why I walked away.

Mosins have gone up recently, but some of the guys refuse to admit it. They still want to live in the "I used to pay $69.00 for these" world.
If the seller asked $240 and sells it, then you see the real world market. If he never sells if, he should have taken your offer. Only time and sales matter, not some guys opinion.

Thanks for the info guys. Right now I'm working on a possible deal for Yugo Mauser, possibly an M48, which seems to be a far better deal.

Yea Yugo Mauser would be a far better shooter. Probably a lot nicer condition too.

I would only be interested in a T53 because of historical

Lets be honest here. Mosin's are not very functional rifles for the ranges. They shoot like 5" at 100 and are dead on at 200 yards. The only reason why someone wants a M44 or Type 53 is because they're a cool conversation piece and shoot massive fireballs...

The market on here 240 he might get it because people will over pay for just about anything. The rest of the U.S. nobody pays over 200 bucks for a type 53 unless its all matching numbers.

I've looked at a whole bunch of different M48's at Big5's. I don't recall being disappointed by any of them. I know ammo is a lot more but the M48 is a much better built gun (IMO)

Its on top of my list, Unfortunately my list keeps growing from both ends.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Actually found out the rifle is a Yugo M24/47, which is a bit more valuable considering the history behind them.

the 24/ 47 was not used by the germans after completing the invasion of yugoslavia. I have tried to find out why a perfectly good 8 mm Mauser were not used by the germans in the Balkins campain so i see no increased value in a 24/47 over a M 48 myself.

no lets get informed . Mosins are good rifles, most refurbs are in much better condition than beater RC Mausers etc. most 70 year old K 98s are worn out.

This youtube is pretty good at sharing what happened to the Yugo M24/47.
