What else do I need for my Rem 700 aac?

Hi everyone,
I have a Remington 700 aac .308. I think it's time for me to take her out but before I do that; there are a couple things that I need to complete.

Currently I have a:

Nikon Prostaff scope
Bipod

So I'll need rings and base and that'll complete it right? Then I should bring it to an expert and have them mount it, then go shoot? Do you guys have any recommendations with that set up? My budget is flexible. I'm looking to learn more about the rifle and the general field itself. I'm fairly new to the environment so my ears are all open for you guys!

Lots of options for rings. I like Talley one piece rings, or a steel base like an egw with some decent rings.

(+1) on Tally rings.I have them on my (3) rifles.Cheapest I've found them was on Amazon honestly. No need to take it to a gunsmith to mount a scope and base.And then depending on size of the bell (scope) determines the height of rings(Low,Med,High)

Trigger. I swapped in a Timney on my AAC-SD. And the rubber Hogue stock isn't the greatest (sometimes the barrel isn't free floating)...mine's sitting in a Bell & Carlson Tactical Medalist stock but waiting for my XLR Carbon Evolution chassis which is probably 8 weeks out.

If you want accuracy, dump the bipod and buy some sand bags.

Though I didn't make the original comment about the bipod and sand bag, I found the rifle to bounce after a shot from a bipod. Sand bags are more stable for repeatability if the OP is going after precision groupings. I switched from bipod to a Caldwell Rock bench rest for rifles.

I prefer sandbags too unless I have some sort of bipod stop to press into.

My favorite mod is my Burris XTR II 3-15x50 scope on my Remington 700 AAC-SD and I love it!

Bi-pods should not hope. Many times the tend to hop when your shooting off a rock hard bench. But with the correct form and softer than Harris feet on your bi-pod you can get rid of that hop. I also prefer to shoot prone with my bi-pod on dirt to make sure I get no hop.

You don't need to take your gun to a "expert" to have a scope mounted. In fact I seen it more times than not, that a so called "expert" at a gun store mounted someone's scope for them and it ended up being off, loose, and needing to be redone. The best way I've found to level a scope is to the fall of gravity. You simply hang a rope with a weight on the end at a little distance. Basically a bigger plum bob. First you get in position with the rifle that you most often will use to shoot it. Then with the scope loose in the rings you simply turn it to align the vertical crosshair with the rope. Once thats done, tighten down the rings to spec.

Badger/NF/EGW/USO base and rings. Just make sure you buy from a reputable company... you'll save yourself the headache later on. You'll most likely upgrade your optics and you can start with buying the right base/ring setup.

Buy a ton of ammo and practice, learn to shoot with the rifle as is and upgrade accordingly. Eventually you'll replace the stock, trigger, barrel etc.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I am definitely trying to learn/upgrade this from the ground up as I go. I'll be using this rifle for precision shooting, and will be looking more into the sandbag option as well; since I haven't shot with neither one. So for the rings, will I be replacing them when I get a new scope? In that case just go with cheaper ones and buy more expensive (rings/scope) ones later?
