    Magpul Hunter

Has anyone tried one yet? The price looks reasonable but I haven't really dabbled in the tactical venue. I have a 700P with the H&S Precision stock. I'm not really in love with the grip area and think I would like to improve.

I bought one, haven't had a barrel installed yet so its just sitting in my closet.

Good as a starter stock, but like Randall said there are better stocks for rigidity.

I bought one right when they came out and installed it. I am not very experienced with long range rifles as I only have one bolt action gun. I installed it on my 700 SPS tactical with a Vortex Viper PST 6-24 FFP. I didn't measure any of my groups at 100 yards when I took it out to Wes Thompson's Rifle Range in Piru but I was able to hit a 36 inch gong at 1000 yards using 168gr FGMM.

The HS is a better quality (more rigid) stock than the Magpul.
The HS would most likely be more accurate on target.
The Magpul is a better looking stock with better exterior features than the HS.

3.4 moa is not impressive accuracy.

Agreed, I will have to do some group testing at shorter distances to see what it's capable of. From what I have read it is an improvement over the original Hogue stock but not in the same league as higher priced options. I would take the HS over the Magpul stock.

Yes. I also have a 5r and the oem stock is very good. I was planning on the Magpul too, but it shot so well with the oem stock that I quickly gave up that idea. Should be the same with the pss.
                Have a good day!

Glad to know that I am not the only 5r owner that has been thinking about the hunter 700 stock too.
