Dev-Con Steel Putty works very well.

        Use a good release agent.

I have been bedding the recoil lug in stocks with bedding blocks for a while now. Works pretty good for me. I use plain old JB Weld and Imperial Sizing Lube as a release agent. Make sure to get plenty of release in the threads! And it helps to rough up the bedding area before cleaning it real well to give the bedding compound something to stick to.

If you order the DevCon from Brownells/Sinclair pickup their spray release. Works better than anything else and there's little cleanup after. Might as well if you're ordering online.

Grainger also sells DevCon and you can use clear Kiwi wax or a silicone spray.

Nothing is "drop in". It is a marketing ploy.

Any wax will work fine. Less is more, just make sure it is applied thoroughly and evenly. A thin coat will do exactly what you want it to. I have been using the same can of Johnson's floor wax for over 25 years.
Bedding epoxies are not that tenacious. Any wax will effect release.

Most after market stock wood or other with aluminum chassis are mass produce. the recoil lug hole are always bigger to accommodate oversize lug.
The first thing i will do when i receive any stock is check the fitting, clean the inside with fine sand paper, clean and bed if necessary.
It's my first HS so i ask.( MM fan )

Being an archer I epoxy in short section of broken Arrow shaft in front action screw holes to reduce rotational shift along with bedding front recoil lug.

Make sure you deburred all edges of recoil lug and add small strip of electricians tap to bottom of lug to allow lug to compress a little, epoxy shrinks and the .005" thick tape allows lug to seat into shrunken hole.
