I keep hearing this, but still havent seen a Remlin even close to a JM. I have handled dozens of examples, and while they have gotten better over time Id still not compare them to JM rifles. Your claim that some are better than JM is a tall order lol.

I have read number of reviews on Remington Marlins made during 2015 and all reviews are positive. I handled 336 and 45-70 Guide guns at lgs and both guns were as good as old Marlins.

You guys buy the new Remington Marlins and I'll gladly buy the old, used, jm stamped Marlins. Especially the stainless ones.

Excellent choice!! That gun is a must. Find a pre Remington model. Remington is now ok but resale wise, and heritage wise, it will never be a Marlin. Exceptional round, great penetration. I load and recommend you do so. 300 grain copper head with 49 grains of h4198 will give you 2000fps. I carry mine on pig hunts and it's perfect. I honestly say I will never sell mine (not that I would sell any guns). I found mine on marlin forum by posting a wtb. I have a like new "JM" Marlin gbl 1895 black with gray laminate. One recommendation is to change the trigger to get a crisp 3 lbs pull and get rid of the "Marlin slop"

If I had the money I'd probably snap this up.

Mine looks the same except I put smaller loop. Not a fan of the big loop. Truly a historic cartridge and a must have for any collector. Beware of recoil. This gun can thump harder than a mule! I progressively loaded 450 lfn and had to stop at 57 grains of powder because the shoulder was killing me...rounds were hitting the gong at 100 with such a force that half of them fell to ground (at Angeles)
Remington was crap when the transferred over all the equipment but the latest I hear is the quality is good. Still a "JM" will be much more valuable down the road and can still be found while not expensive.

Lol ~ I've got a 5yr old rem 45/70 JBL that I've yet to shoot! Replaced the sights, did away wth the useless cross bolt safety, bought the last set of molds off that one Marlin cat, got the dies & brass & then I completely lost interest..... Funny how priorities change!
