    Rem MDL 700 30-06 worth

Came into a 700 BDL 30-06 about 60 % clean barrel, few dings on the stock.
Redfield rings (scope was thrashed and not repairable). Any Ideas of what this puppy is worth?

One problem is that people just aren't interested in bolt guns right now. The second is you can go to the store and buy brand new and scoped for 300 and up. Hard to compete with. I have a really nice late 70s 700 in 7mag that I tried selling here and at my lgs. There was no interest in it for what it's theoretically worth.just the market today.

I paid 325 for a great condition ADL 7mm Mag made in 1977 with nice older Tasco scope about 4 years ago from a guy at work. I feel like I got a good deal based on the condition. He was hard up for $ at the time so I feel like the that was his basis for the price. Its one of my favorite rifles to date.

I paid 350 for a prestine 700 in 30.06 with a really nice Bushnell sitting on top of it. So I'd say 300ish

60%? Yeah, I'd say about $300 or so.

I've seen good-condition Savage 110's in .30-06, equipped with Burris Signature Zee rings (plus the offset shims) and a Simmons scope, for about $325. Granted that this was pre-Accutrigger, but still pretty good.

I've also seen stainless-steel Remington 700 SPS's in the magnum chamberings (7mm RM, .300 Win Mag) in good shape go for $450 to $500. No scope or rings, though.

Where are you getting your information? Bolt actions remain the most popular action around. What is more popular and site your source.

Ok my source is calguns and me. Whenever you open calguns look at how many people are viewing the semi auto forum vs the manual action forum. That and what I see at the stores and gun dhows. For every guy drooling over a bolt action there's 20 guys slobbering all over some tacticool hunk of plastic. No doubt there are more bolt guns out there than any other. But to try and sell a used one and get a decent amount for it...good luck. I didn't have any. Why because you can buy a brand new one for so cheap with optics.

The best 700 made is worth about $450 used and the worst one full of rust and pitting is worth about $275 to a target Shooter.
Sendero 700 PSS and 5R's and M anything are not worth a penny more but you have a vast amount of people who buy off the shelf rather than putting something together.
If you can find one of them ask high and work a deal.

Depends what you are selling. If its a quality bolt rifle and priced fairly, then it will sell. If it's been chewed on by your dog and dragged through a rock quarry, then it might be a difficult sell. Go to any gun store and count the number of bolt actions vs. semi autos and tell me what you come up with. Remembering your post, I went to Sportsman's Warehouse and Bass Pro Shop in my area and did a quick count of firearms on the shelf. I discarded shotguns and handguns. Between the two stores, I counted 109 bolt actions, 14 semi autos and 4 pumps. I did not include .22 rifles as there is a ton of cheap semi auto .22 crap on the market. Gun manufacturers are making more bolt actions than all others combined for a reason and that's because that is what is selling. I am discounting AR type firearms because while popular at the range, I've yet to see one actually being used for big game hunting (and I know there are some out there) and I hunt in and out of state annually. Also, don't forget that what you sell and when you sell it has a lot to do with "timing". The best time to buy a bolt action hunting rifle is April through September (before the general big game hunting seasons start). The worst time is November through March (holidays and tax season). Just some food for thought........

I recently won a Remington 700 ADL 30.06 at a banquet dinner. It comes with a factory scope, but not a good one. It's your basic package deal that retails at most stores for $450 +/-. While not a high quality stock (synthetic) and a cheap scope, the action is still the tried and true Remington 700. While not an expensive gun, after I pick it up this Sunday after the 10 day wait period, I'm going to list it for sale on CG for $325 (rifle, scope, box, papers and everything that came with it). At this price someone will buy it because they can put on a decent Leupold VXI 3-9x40 scope or even a less expensive Nikon scope and have a good hunting rifle that will perform and perform well. All of it will be under $600. Again, if priced right, things will sell.

I agree, you can find an occasional well used 700 in the $400-$500 price range (sometimes less), but a 700 with nice wood that's been well cared for is still going to run you in the $600-$700 range.

Not a lot of buyers of the 700 now a days, now that you can buy a strip receiver at Brownells for about $500 .years ago they buy it as a donor gun.

                          Just my observation....
