Need suggestions with .308 ammo issues

OK - First, the Rifle:

Savage 10PC, bought new in 2012. No problems whatsoever feeding it Hornady, PMC, Brown bear, etc.. < I do not reload >

The Ammunition - MAGTECH 7.62 X 51 Ball. Brass case < Made in Brazil >

Cartridge goes into battery just fine. If I cycle it without firing, it retracts and ejects perfectly well, time after time.

The problem is that when I fire a round, it will not cycle. By this I mean that the BOLT acts as if it is Stuck. I can rotate it upwards to its normal stop attitude, but cannot pull it Back using normal hand pressure. I did not pound on the bolt to attempt to loosen it.

Instead, I take my fiberglass cleaning rod, insert it at the muzzle end and gently tap on the spent case / stuck bolt, the bolt slides back and ejects the case as if nothing is wrong.

I was not sure if it was an ammo issue or a Chamber / Bolt problem; so I tried testing the system several times with different cartridge combinations, as follows:

After the first 3 times in a row of ejection failures with the MAGTECH cartridges, I used different ammo ( 4 rounds of PMC, brass case ) and these shot and cycled perfectly well.

Next I tried shooting one cartridge of MAGTECH and got stuck again on the ejection sequence. Out came the "ram rod" ..

I followed with Four rounds Brown Bear 140Gr Bimetal in lacquered Steel Case downrange; and again 100% flawless ejection.

Finally, one last shot with a Magtech cartridge...and it Stuck again.

That's a 100% rate of failure to cycle with this ammo.

I'm guessing that the neck on the case must be expanding too much.

Do you gents have any advice on mitigating this issue..?

I was thinking of applying a thin coat of lubricant grease to the Neck and shoulder areas of the case to aid in the ejection sequence.

Sounds like hot ammo, for your rifle. Measure the diameter of the brass about 0.200" above the case head with one that ejects fine and the Magtech brass. I bet you will see that this area has swollen up and is causing the brass to stick to the walls, causing "sticky bolt".

It is okay to take a rubber mallet and gently tap the bolt handle back. Just don't go to town on it... No need to take your cleaning rod out every time.

There really is no way to mitigate this. Just don't shoot them...

Shoot it in some other gun.

I had the exact same experience using this ammo in my Remington 700 when I first got it. I tried what I had left over in my M1A and they cycled perfectly fine.

As others have said, it's the combo of the rifle and the ammo. Even if you do not reload, for general target shooting, it is best to try a few different labels of ammo and see which does best in your rifle. Then, purchase as much of this ammo as you can in bulk to save money. This way, you keep your zero and have a reasonable expectation of consistency. This will also create a lot of brass with the same headstamps in the event you decide to reload later.

For inexpensive bulk ammo, I've always found PMC to be good all-around ammo.

Agreed. I find that my 10PC likes PMC ammo, as does my wallet.

Unfortunately, my normal source was out of stock at time of my last order, hence my purchase of the MAGTECH brand.
