The bolt bug has bitten me, I found a great deal on an M77 Hawkeye All Weather in 7mm-08 on Davidsons. Regularly $899, purchased for $499 before fees. Apparently Ruger dropped the All Weather in the Hawkeye line in 2015. Cannot wait, pick my Ruger American up on Tuesday. A2

That is a good cartridge.....and rifle.
Stick a Leupold 3X9X40 duplex reticle on it and you are set for life and your kids life. Another good choice would be a Leupold 3.5X10X40 with the same reticle. This would be for hunting and target shooting/plinking.
If only for shooting paper then any brand and more power is fine.

I had a m77 all weather in 7mm rem mag but traded it, that rifle had such a smooth bolt, not sloppy like rifles made today.
I should have kept it.
