Been adding stuff to my bolt gun. Finally received the magpul FDE stock. I started this 308 for bear hunting but have yet to take it out. Later this year will be a first with this rifle. Just for fun. Whatcha think? I forgot I used this same rifle for whitetail hunting early last year.

I gotta ask, what are the two rounds on the side of the stock? Looks like some kind of velcro holder maybe?
I have seen them before but just don't know what they are for.

Short action precision sells it. An extra two rounds just in case. Closer to drop them in. I liked it.

I like it. Curious to know how well the Burris Eliminator works.

My recommendation if you want to bear hunt is to set up a different rifle. Lower magnification scope, lighter barrel, and no muzzle device that will blow out your hearing.

Ok. I go with what works for me. I also have hunted with a 458 socoms pistol, rifle, 450 bushmaster, and 45/70. All have proven their use. And the scope is a 3.5 adjustable Burris eliminator. I have used iron sights, scopes and so forth. Heavy or light guns it doesn't matter. God gave me a strong back and hands.

This is the original eliminator. First enter ballistic number with their chart. Zero rifle. press button and it gives you distance and bullet drop. Only up to you to compensate for angle and wind. I think the newer models are more fancy and added compensation for angle and so forth

This gun I can hit to 400 with me. But where I hunt is from 20-60 yards. Too many trees and steep elevation.

I think it is nice looking gun, and I like to see posts from people who have set up guns for specific hunting purposes.

I did find what appears to be a relatively short barrel to be a bit curious. I would have thought getting a bit more velocity on the round would be desirable. Any particular reason for the barrel length choice here? Or is that just what came on the action when you bought it?

60 yard max distance where I hunt. Don't need a longer barrel.

Short barrels are awesome for under 300 yards. A lot of my hunting rigs are 18" or less.
