5.45x39 bolt action rifle

Just curious if anyone here has one. This would make an awesome varmint gun or a range gun that you can shoot for about 20 cents per round. I know TOZ makes them but with the recent import ban, it's a rare bird. Does anyone make barrels for this caliber that would fit a Rem 700 receiver?

Doesn't CZ offer one in their 527 Model Line?

CZ's aren't cheap, but are great guns and doing custom work on any rifle is likely to add up the $ real fast.

If you order a blank and get a 700 with the correct size bolt face (PTG will custom make one), I can chamber a barrel and put it on your 700 receiver.
If you are going small, you might as well build this on a model 7 though.

Let me follow the logic:

Assuming you already have a complete donor action with trigger, stock and bottom metal.
-Custom 0.219" barrel blank $350
-Custom 0.394" boltface bolt body $200
-Machine work to Thread, Chamber and fit barrel to receiver $200
Presuming no other custom work.

$750 to shoot "cheap" surplus steelcase ammo.

A 223 bolt can probably be opened up and then 0.010" trimmed off a stock remington extractor.
We are only talking about a cartridge rim than is 0.020" larger than a 223.

There was a company that converted Savages to 5.45x39 bolt rifle. Too bad they stop their service.

Quite right. But is 5.56x45mm ammo and a Tikka T3 in .223Rem too expensive?
