Browning 78 Trigger

I just picked up an old stock NIB Browning 78 in 6mm Remington. The trigger is OK, very smooth but alot of travel - feels like there's a ball bearing for a sear. I've read all the web warnings about what a PITA the 78 trigger is to adjust - has anyone done it, had success or bad result?

I have no problem adjusting Remington 700, 40X triggers, Winchester 70 and 1911s. I'm pretty good knowing what I can and can't do.

I bought a pristine used Model 78 in 6mm Remington many years ago. The previous owner had the trigger professionally smoothed and it shoots beautifully. One of my most accurate rifles. I hope it turns out well for you. Mine's a tad heavy but it's great for target and varmints.

I had a very nice 78 in 25-06 many years ago. The trigger was some what adjustable but I wasn't able to get it how I wanted, so I had a gun smith install a Canjar set trigger, then it was perfect. Not sure if Canjar is still around but they made awesome triggers.
