Is there any such thing as a Winchester Model 1873 with a half magazine tube, such as found in the Model 65 or 53? I'm looking for a deluxe, pistol grip version. One of the various Uberti repros is fine and along those lines, which "marketer" puts out the nicest - Taylor, Cimarron, Chiappa, etc?

I can't answer your question directly, but if I believe the folks who run these rifles into the ground can.
This is the only resource I seem to have saved. I'm certain there's a gold mine of info for you if you dig around.
Merry Christmas!

Yes, but .... the description of the rifle says a "full octagon" barrel and straight pistol grip. That's not what's pictured - the picture shows a full pistol grip and a half octagon/round barrel.
If you look at other pictures under their listing for 44-40 it shows a full magazine tube rifle. And some other listings with the same title show a full tube too. I should have paid closer attention when I was in their store a few weeks back - Kittery Trading Post in Maine. Bought many a gun there growing up.
I'll give them a ring for more info, see which version is correct. But it looks like that could be the one. I'd prefer something other than 357 Magnum though.Last edited by dfletcher; 12-26-2015, 9:49 PM.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment
