In our testing, POI was noticeably different, like an inch off point of aim, relative to a straight cold bore shot. My cold bore was still within I would say a 1/2" from point of aim, and that was doing the test multiple times. With the compressed air put upside down, point of impact changed dramatically, to over an inch in most cases. After the first shot, the subsequent shots started to walk towards point of aim and after 3 shots, we were back to shooting the standard group sizes.

Had our monthly F-Class 3x1000, 15-shot string match yesterday. 1.25" diameter barrels shooting 20-30 shot strings were cooling to near ambient within 30-45 minutes when it would normally take 1-2 hours to get it back to the same temperature. It feels good to start another string/relay with a cooler barrel. We were on a covered/shaded line and the temperature was around 85-90 degrees.
I had a few guys feeling the air coming out of the muzzle end with BarrelCool in the action and they thought it felt like a mini blow dryer, exhausting the heat from the bore. This could only be done because BarrelCool is an empty chamber flag and thus can be used on the line when waiting between strings.
That being said, we added new videos of BarrelCool in an AR platform and bolt action rifle along with a how-to video for the battery installation. With quite a few of these out in the market, we are starting to get a lot of good feedback/reviews of BarrelCool working for them.
If you bought one, we would love your feedback and take a picture of BarrelCool in your rifle or on the line and send it to me and we can put it on the website by visiting our contact page.

The tube needs to be cut to fit your particular action and chambering. Check out the videos and back of the card to see how to do it.
Let me know if that works.Comment

BarrelCool will be at the Cow Palace Gun Show this weekend. Come visit our booth to see some demonstrations of BarrelCool in a bolt action rifle and AR platform.
We expect to be there both days.

Glad to hear it.
FYI, if you are using a short/medium action like a 700 or Defiance Deviant, cut the tube somewhere between 1.75" - 2.75" inches. It really depends on your action, how much you want to work to get the tube portion into the chamber. Mine is set at 2.6" total length. Once you get it in there, it will look much like this. There is plenty of opening for air intake. Even in a left port action, the fan will be upside down, but with the magwell open, there is still plenty to intake air.

I've had a chance to use this thing at two matches now. Both with great results. Each match had some pretty heavy strings of (rapid) fire and by the time I could walk to the next firing line/stage, my barrel and chamber were cool to the touch. Great product!
And because I'm a jerk, I must also offer some constructive feedback:
1. The matches I shoot require you walk from stage to stage and line to line. This means holding your rifle muzzle up, or slung. This also means the bolt tends to slide open all the way (gravity). And if you cut your tube according to the suggested length, the BarrelCool will be pulled out of the chamber when the bolt slides back. And it's difficult to reinsert it without fiddling because the tube will then hit the stepped opening in the barrel/chamber.
To fix this, Bryan graciously sent me a new tube. I found I only had to cut 1/8" off to get the right fit. Now the rear of the BarrelCool rests against the rear of the ejection port with the bolt fully open. And the tube is still where it needs to be. No more sliding. My action is a Defiance Deviant Tactical (700SA) with slightly extended port. So maybe the port length has something to do with it.
2. The shape/design of the housing could use some love to make it not sit at a wonky angle when in the action with the elastic wrapped around the bolt handle. This is minor, though. If y'all ever make a V2, just something to think about.
But the product works!Comment

No doubt about it, this thing is useful whether you're a competition shooter or a range rat.
I can imagine that soon cease fires and Relay changes will be accompanied by the soft whirring of BarrelCools. In fact we've already heard it at SacValley!Comment

Everything is USB rechargeable these days, from my XDS' laser sight to my LED camping lantern. Anything in the works to incorporate something like this?No government deprives its citizens of rights without asserting that its actions are "reasonable" and "necessary" for high-sounding reasons such as "public safety."
A right that can be regulated is no right at all, only a temporary privilege dependent upon the good will of the very government
officials that such right is designed to constrain.Comment

At this point, no. Reason being, there was no way of determining how the market would take to a unique product such as this. All indications were that it would sell, but the volumes we estimated and the price point we needed to sell it to make it appealing meant that a battery operated device was the route to take. A USB, rechargeable version would have much more cost to develop and the certifications in order to sell it would also drive the unit cost up.
That being said, we have seen great battery life out of the (3) CR123A batteries required to operate it and there is also an option of buying rechargeable CR123A batteries that can be used not only in BarrelCool, but in many other products that use the same battery, such as flashlights.
With regards to reviews of BarrelCool, we are getting very positive feedback from users. You can see a few more of them here: http://forum.accurateshooter.com/thr...eview.3903696/Comment
