    Price check

Thinking of selling my Howa 1500 Stainless 223 in black hogue stock. 1-9 twist. Hinged floor plate.
Its has redfield 4-12x40 revolution with accu range reticle.
    Basic weaver style rings.
I'd give the rifle overall 8.5 out of 10. It's not beat up or major ding, but it has been used.
    Thanks
Sorry If this is not the right forum.

            $500.00 to $600.00
            Let's say $550.00 then
            $200.00 scope.
            $750.00
You say 8.5 out of 10
            That could be 85%
            750 x .85 = 637.50
That seems high to me. If an item is bnib or like bnib, then saving tax can make sense if the item is hard to find.
Oh heck, treefiddy sounds about right. Maybe forhundy

No I don't think he wants to buy this gun, I was saying thanks for his input but not letting it go 350.
630 or so seems little high as well. but, at the same time These stainless howas are in 600s new.
              Realisticly I'm around 550. Maybe 500

The 1 in 9 twist will turn many away. What you have is an entry level varmint hunting rifle with a entry level scope that is at 85%.

You will be competing with the new Ruger All American, Remington 783, Savage Edge and other Howa rifles all priced at $300+/- new plus maybe $120 for the scope. That puts you at $420 on a very good day.

Some/many would rather buy a new rifle than a used one if the price is close enough.

You would be better off posting it as a trade. You will get a higher trade value price over selling it.

                My thoughts...

Id say like $450 is probably close to fair for both involved. Brand new howa gameking package $499 at my local gun store. That for all intents and purposes gets the same job done. Yours might have a nicer scope but does that add any actual VALUE. Does it do anything new it didnt do before?

Yeah yours is stainless and has a redfield on it but you will never ever got dollar for dollar on stuff like that because your average consumer doesn't really care.

Equivalent of the guy on craigslist who wants over blue book because he added chrome trimmings and cheesy wheels and tires.

I'd list it for $500 and take anything over $400. OR take the scope off since it cost you $200 and doesnt add as much value. It will help it sell faster maybe if you leave it on but it'll sour your deal because you are most like getting like $50-75 value add for you $200 spend. Do you have the scope it came with?

Sorry for the long rant and dont take it personally its probably a great rifle. i sell stuff on craigslist all the time thats my basic process i go through before i buy or list anything. Could be complete crap advice.

I've got a almost like new 1979 rem mod 700 in 7 mag with iron sights that's just beautiful. I recently tried to sell it cause I have other guns I enjoy shooting more. The problem is I couldn't get a decent price out of it because a not that many people are interested in bolt guns and someone can go buy a brand new gun scoped and ready to go for 4 - 500 and it will do just fine for most people. At any given time look how many people are viewing semi auto forum vs manual. Finally I just decided to keep it. Just too nice to let it go for nothing. I think it's just the reality of trying to sell a bolt gun today.

No hard feelings. I appreciate all the input. This is what I asked for. Not trying to rip anyone off or get fudged.
                      So with out scope 350-400?
And 1-9 is much better than 1-12. It is much more versitile.

Since you already had all the answers given your rebuttal posts I have to ask why post at all?
Maybe just a way to sneak in a for sale add where it does not belong?

Just so you will know a scope on a rifle for sale is worth $50 to the price. Take it off and sell separate you can get far more for most quality scopes.
Most rifles(and yours is one) loose a bunch of value once you fill out the paperwork. Much like a car. The same goes for a new scope.

This is the way it is in the real world. Given that people can buy new for not much more than you think it is worth you better get used to having it around unless you find a not too knowledgeable buyer.

As stated before---Good luck on your sale.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Not trying to sneak in a sale.
I have two 223s (tikka and a howa) and an AR. one has to go. I usually buy guns with intentions to keep for a very long time.
Just wanted some opinions and advice.
                          Thanks again

I paid $425 for a slightly used Howa 1500 .223. It has a 22" barrel and the Nikko scope or what ever scope they come with.
