    Marlin 336 sling mount

I am looking to put a sling on the 336 I recently got. It will be being used a hunting rifle.

What is the best sling mount setup for a 336?
I'm aware of the Uncle Mikes magazine clamp but am wondering if there are any other good options.

    Thank you.

You are asking about something really basic here. No need to overthink it. Mount it up and sling away.

Do not drill out the Marlin Bullseye inlayed into the stock, if yours has one. That's not what it's for.
Make sure to mark center for drilling, but not too near the toe of the stock, since that can split the wood or interfere with the butt pad screw. Go 2+" from the toe.
Drill appropriate diameter pilot hole straight, or the swivel stud may split or crack the stock, too.
You may need a counterbore bit for the base to fit snugly into. Maybe a small amount of Elmer's wouldn't hurt.
For the upper mount semi-ring, use blue locktight on the set screw.
      That's about it.
Thinking back, I may have used masking tape over the surface to help prevent chipping the surrounding finish while drilling.
