    6.5 Creedmor Barreled Riffles

I am very interested in finding a reasonably priced mountain deer hunting rifle in a 6.5 Creedmor caliber. I'm not having much luck finding anything as light as I would like. I was considering a Tikka T3 in .308 but now I am leaning towards the 6.5 Cm.

Any suggestions? Anyone know if Tikka will start offing rifles in 6.5 Creedmor?

You would do better to look for a 6.5x55 for a hunting rifle.
        Tikka offers them.

6.5 Creedmoor is more of a target shooting cartridge as evidenced by most of the factory ammo being target ammo.

I agree. I do not hunt but I can't see the advantage of using 6.5CM.

I'll look into the 6.5x55. Personally not familiar with either. Just found some interesting YouTube reviews about the Creedmor after a friend in the industry mentioned it.

6.5 creedmoor is the current target shooting flavor-of-the-month.
In the hands of a reloader, it's also a very capable hunting cartridge.

If a user is limited to buying factory ammo, the 6.5x55 will offer a better selection of hunting ammo as the 6.5x55 cartridge has been around about 110 years longer than the 6.5 creedmoor.
There is very little factory produced 6.5 creedmoor ammo that is appropriate for hunting.

If you want the 6.5CD, for an off the shelf economy rifle, Savage is probably the best option. As others have said, the 6.5 Swede is one of the better options. With that said, the Tikka just needs a new barrel, and it's a 6.5CD. So, if you like the Tikka, you can get one, and when you need a new barrel just get a 6.5 CD replacement (or backup).

...and it is also the new flavor for Ruger fans.

Price has come down a lot on the ammo.

Need to get one of the Czech or Russian Companies making it to really start bringing the price down.

Why make it so hard on yourself? Just go .243.

I am a huge fan of the 6.5x55. My CZ 550 American chambered in said cartridge is my favorite rifle. If you hand load you can push it considerably faster than the Creedmoor.

That being said I believe factory loads for 6.5 Creedmoor will soon outnumber 6.5 Swedes by a big margin. In a bolt action I will still take the 6.5 Swede over the Creedmoor any day. My next two rifles will be a 6.5-06 and an AR chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I originally wanted an AR in .260 Remington but have decided to go Creedmoor because of factory ammo availability-should I ever want to use it.
