Type 38 for 600 Yard Match

Has anyone shot their Arisaka Type 38 at the 600 yard line? I'm thinking about trying it at the next 3x600 match when it comes up again. Just curious what to expect down-range wise. Mine's a tack-driver at 100 yards.
    Thanks

You'll never know until you try. Here in Norcal I've run a LR match for vintage rifles, and a few times some of the vintage rifle people have shot in the regular 3x600 HP match with decent results.

Your biggest problem will be finding proper size bullets of a decent BC to shoot accurately.

Arisaka tend to have.268 diameter bore and usually rough bores due to corrosive ammo.

Don't let that discouraged you, I own the range record for the cacano rifle, I shot 7x40 shattering the previous range record of 4x40.

What bullets are you using ? Are they in fact .268 or are they metric 6.5 .264 caliber ? Hornady used to make .264 160gr round nose hunting bullets. I would think that if they tack drive at 100 yards, whatever it is you use, they should do OK at 600 yards.

          Is it 7.7 Japanese ??

Plug your bullet and velocity into the JBM ballistics calculator, and work up from there.

Actually the 160 grain round nose hornady bullets were .268" dia.
