Rem 788

Just a few years ago, I picked up a .308 carbine barreled receiver for $20! Pieced it back together and put a Weaver 1-3x on it. Good little brush gun.

These are reproduction magazines, a bit more pricy than the originals. I purchased a few for a project where I was gonna rebarrel my .223 Remington to .204 Ruger, but then decided to wait for other projects to be finished.

What is the reason (and I use that term loosely) that 3 round magazines that will ONLY fit a bolt gun are 'restricted' for Connecticut? This seems a bit extreme for even that bastion of socialist ideology.

And here's an old article about using the very underrated 788 for long range shooting where the writer was able to use a stock 20" 788 to hit the target at 1000 yards.

Since you have a few, can you measure what overall length cartridge they will accept?

I get 2.310" on mine.

Those repros are reasonably priced IMO. A few years ago, before any repros were available. I saw originals going for $90. I think I'll order a few myself. And they can't be any worse than the originals. Which are cheap crap.
