    Inherited a Model 94

About to take it apart and clean it up. Got it from Grandpa as a wedding present, first lever action I own. Ran the numbers, built in 1952. Kinda hard to find ammo it's chambered in .32 win spl. Any tips for take down/cleaning?

Yes, ONLY use screwdrivers of proper design [hollowground] that properly fit the slots in the screws.

Great looking little rifle. I have a 30-30 model 94 from same time frame. It was given to me by my father.

Plan on taking it out to the range then hanging it above the safe. I just got an Axis .308 Any input on hangers?

That is some good advice right there...

Taking it apart will run the very real risk of turning your $400+ gun instantly into a $300 -.
Ballistically there is hardly any difference between the 30 and 32 calibers. The 32's had rather slow twists that, when the bore and throat became a little worn had accuracy issues.
Yours is in pretty nice shape, I would leave her be.

Hmm, the way I read the OP's post, G-Pa is still with us. No mention of passing.

Very nice looking rifle! I had a model 94 myself once in 30-30. Though it was post-64, I still regret getting rid of it. As others suggested, I would avoid taking it apart and clean the best you can while it's assembled. It can be tedious but is doable.

Looks like ammo is available as well through Midway:

Nice rifle. I inherited a 1949 in .30-30 from an ex-father-in-law that is in like-new condition.

                          Nice!
IMHO, Bore Snakes were made for non take down lever actions.
