6 Dasher Brass For A New Build

Just got off the phone with Shiraz and the new Norma 6 Dasher brass double head stamped to support more pressure will NOT be here until January or February.
For those wanting a new bolt action build you are better off using 6BR or 308 Palma brass.

Thanks for the heads-up...I guess it works out since my 6 Dasher rig won't be ready 'till next year
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
    Come on...what harm??

        Bryan
Use the false shoulder method with 15 grains of Red Dot and Cream of Wheat or Tapioca.
Your false shoulder needs to be rigid enough that you have to use a heavy palming to close the action.
Imperial Sizing Die Wax on the outside of your brass and fire away.
Use weak primers for fireforming so NO CCI 450's or BR4's until your brass is fully shaped.

Yes, Shiraz posted on Monday that Norma confirmed they had not yet STARTED the process.

Given that they produce 30 million cases a year from one facility, it's not surprising they're slow-walking this deal. Probably not a big enough up-front payment was made.
Not a big deal in the grand scheme, Lapua Blue Box 6BR is terrific and even fireforming loads can win midrange matches.

Still, I'll be trying the Norma when it's available.

A year behind is par for the course when Norma is going to come out with a case, but it tends to be very good.

The only thing I'd really like is for a real brass maker to start making a CheyTac/505 Gibbs. That's the one cartridge family that is seriously lacking and no way to form anything worth beans.

Look into Hornady. Might not be as zoot as Lapua, Norma or Nosler but I know they did a 6mm Hagar run due to a specific order/request from Creedmoor. If you were willing to commit and become a distributer I'll bet they'd do the same for a CheyTac/505 Gibbs. I think Creedmoor had to commit to 20k cases.

I got to get my dasher tuned...i thought i had a tuned load and went to 200 yards and it went to hell. 5-8 shot groups were in the .75" range. no bueno. I did have one group print in the 1/2" range, but agg it was probably low 7's. Boo! I was expecting 1/2" or just bigger than 1/2" 5-8 shot groups. i wonder if my expectations are too much....

I've seen guys like killshot and others just hammer away with the dasher. that's my competition, so i guess i got to try to match or beat what they can do while driving the dasher

Eliseo went back to the 6mm BR. Not sure why though.

With Hornady brass, you are out of the frying pan and into the fire.

I'm with JMP, the stuff they made for Alexander Arms' 6.5Grendel was horrible.

                        Gimme the Swedish/Finnish stuff!

Now I wish I had found the post by Shiraz.
Bryan 33 - 33.5 grains of RE15 with 0.104 freebore will give you 3050 fps in a 30 inch barrel and 3030 fps in a 28 inch barrel.
After that it is all about seating depth and the right bullet.
Last time on was on range 12 Dangerous Bob Dorton shot a group right at 0.823 inches at 600 yards with one of his 6 Dashers.
Of course Bob is usually at the range 5-7 days a week. You can usually find him in a storage shed near range 11 the benchrest range. Tell him I sent you. We don't always agree on the politics of that place but he is as honest as the day is long and that is refreshing.

The guys who run a Hagar seem to like it, but then they are shooting autoloaders at targets the size of small eastern block countries.

That must have been my "problem", shooting a 6ARturbo40 from a semi in F-Open.....
Yeah, that didn't work so well but it WAS fun

Bry, try knocking that load down a bunch if you're still above 34grs, there's no prize for the fastest bullet. Start over at 32.2 and go up in .04 increments, try .010" in and .010" off. I've always found a couple nodes between that and 33.6. Seating depth test the best.
If you can get that firebreathing Shehane to group you can Dasher, too.
