        Man, that's nice.

I've been looking at those for a while in 308, still undecided because of the price.

Once thing I noticed though, what's the deal with the flash hider? All the ones I see on the website have a weird faux-A2 flash hider. Did you install that one as a replacement? I like the look of it much better!

I have a CZ-527 in .223 that is light, handy and fun. I have a Savage 340 in .30-30 that shares those traits. For more serious use, I have a MRC1999 in .358 Win, though it has a 21-inch barrel. My other carbines are lever action or semi-auto.

Yes, different flash hider and modified M1 garand handguard to cover the upper barrel to eliminate the scope rail

My favorite plinking carbine is a Mossberg Patrol in 5.56.

                Having a blast with it.

Another vote for the CZ-527 shooting the AK round... broke mine out of the safe after about two years of not shooting it a couple of weeks age and had a hell of a good time shooting it. Took it out again last weekend with some hand loads.

I wanted a .223 bolt plinker and found a deal on a Savage Model 11 Hog Hunter. I really like it, but now I wish I'd waited for the MVP!

Bolt action carbines for plinking would be:
                        M43 winchester 218bee
                        M1899 Krag carbine - 30/40

How is this better for plinking when the ammo you listed is well over $1.20 per round and .223 is $0.35 a round?

Serious shooters don't shoot factory ammo.

Well, your point is taken --
But, these are my favorites as the heading asked -
I admit I ignored the request for what was best for him --
