    Sling help

    Any decent sling recommendations?
Specifically, want something to put on my Remington 700 for hunting.

I like to wrap up in the sling to help my off hand shooting. So I'm not a big fan of the Butler Creek quick adjust sling I just picked up from Cabelas.

The big shoulder pad gets in the way, and doesn't really feel all that comfortable anyhow.

    Thanks.

I favor the Accuracy International slings.

2-Pack AmmoGarand USGI Pattern OD Green Cotton Web Slings for M1 Garand, M1A, M14,M16,AR15

If you have quick detach swivels, just put it in place of the clip. Then you can use sling either way.

I really like using a magpul ms3 sling. Single and double point. Liked it so much bought a second one.

M1/M14 USGI is what I used in my old hunting rifles growing up. Nothing fancy, but lasted years. I still have one on my last 30-06.

I was going to suggest safari sling is great for hunting. but if you like to wrap up the sling, that wont work.
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

On my serious hunting guns, I just use the 1" military style sling. I actually like them without the wide shoulder pad because they dig into the clothes a little better and don't slide off my shoulder and they're easy to wrap up in.

Andy's Leather is also a great source of nice slings. He manufactures Ching slings and Rhodesian slings, and a variety of other leather goods. I'm have one of his Rhodesian slings, and I think it's a good balance of a simple carry sling, and one which can be used to sling up for off-hand shooting.

Rhodesian™ Slings and Ching Slings for the Scout Rifle and hunting rifles. 30+ years of leather and Scout Rifle experience.

This is the type swivel I use on my hunting rifles that have swivel stud. http://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Connec...=sling+swivels

I've purchased a couple of really cool slings off Ebay. A couple of them have been 1 1/4" leather made by the Amish in Ohio.

                      Highly recommended.

I saw this and I thought "damn I didn't get here in time to recommend a GI sling, poor OP" then I saw the link. Good job, the GI web sling is a true jack of all trades, and master of some. It is configurable in a number of ways, cheap, simple and robust. I've got one for every rifle, some rifles take match slings later but the GI sling always works.

Slinging-Up in the off-hand is a bit controversial. Getting hits has never been controversial. If it works for you go for it.

If you sling-up in the off-hand you rule out jump shooting until you untangle yourself and by then Bambi or Mr. Porkchop is usually long gone.

I have one of these. It stretchs which helps me with off hand shots. Grips clothes well. But its a ***** to adjust. http://www.specialtyoutdoorproducts.com/
