Bottom metal for my precision rifle

Hello,

Sorry yall I have to ask for help with my rifle again. I am looking for an affordable bottom metal for my precision rifle build. Rifle has a model 70 receiver chambered in 30-06. I really want to do competition with this build and it looks like a detachable mag system is a must?

Heard good things about PTG bottom metal.

The more important question is who you are going to use to inlet the stock for the DBM?

That was the deciding factor for me. I used A Badger DBM and had the inletting done by George Gartner at GA Precision for $75.00.

I had a second rifle that I used CDI bottom metal because Jeff @ CDI did the inletting for $75.00.

Who are you going to use to inet he stock?

I have the short action version on my early FN SPR, basically a short action Model 70. The PTG is drop in, solid as heck and very well made. They use single stack AX magazines, not the wider staggered type, so the bottom metal sidewalls are very, very thick. Still carries 5 rounds. The feed from the single stack feels a bit smoother to me.

I seat 168s to 2.80" OAL, there's more than enough room to seat longer and use heavier bullets.

If you visit the PTG website you may be able to get it for less, they sometimes runs sales. I've visited their workplace in OR, not exactly "mom & pop" but definitely a hands on, everyone works together operation. I like buying from them whenever I can.

+1 Randall just did my PTG DBM yesterday and it came out great.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the PTG bottom metal. Thanks for everyones help. I agree Randall is a terrific gunsmith, he installed my barrel for me. Great guy.
