A little excited for the first time in a while!

Put some money down on a 22" bbl pre Remlin Marlin 1895 today. I'm really looking forward to this gun. It came with a cheapie 3-9 scope that I'll probably replace for $450, I thought it was a pretty good deal. It's all set to become my new hog and short range deer rifle. Now I just gotta find some 45-70 brass....and a big loop lever...and a limbsaver. Woohoo!

I love the 45/70, just be warned! Once you buy one, you'll buy more!! I currently own 6. I tried to be a tough guy at the range but quit after 120 rounds. I usually shoot 300 or 405 grain and recently bought some 500gr, can't wait!

You really don't need a limbsaver unless your rolling your own on the hot side, trying to use it as a range toy, or your a skinny woman! I use one for close up on hogs. It works really, really well.

Bring a truck, preferably 4WD, firearms, lots of ammo... and curl the brim of your baseball cap!

Not a skinny woman but my girlfriend is, haha, from what I hear it's a slow push, but we'll see what my reloads have to say about that.

I was pushing 300gr around 2000fps. My Marlin is the only rifle with a pad on it. I have a miroku Winchester 1886 and that has a steel buttplate. I'll be at Angeles range this Monday if you'd like to shoot a few rounds, I'll have a few lever guns in different caliber as well.

Awesome! Have one myself. Good round, it'll take down anything that moves from deer to ford trucks. Watch Jurassic World, starlord carries one.
