Any CZ 550 fans?

I had a 550 varmint with a Kevlar stock in .308, beautiful rifle and a tack driver.
CZ has a good reputation for reliable quality, in out of the box rifles.

They are what Remington and Winchester were 60 years ago but better. Hammer forged barrel, controlled round feed, AMAZING triggers and just exceptional quality where it counts. They are made by old world craftsmanship with new technological advances.

I have a CZ 452 that will hang with an Anschutz any day for accuracy, a 457 that will put out honest .5 MOA groups as an average of 5, 5 shot groups, and a 550 in .30-06 that I just got that is beautiful but have not tried it for accuracy yet. CZ makes guns that can run with ones accuracy wise at many times their cost.

The only downside is that the 550 does not have the aftermarket stuff of others. The good news is that no add ons are needed as they are extremely accurate out of the box and the set trigger should cost as much as the rifle rather than being included free.

The only rifle I like as much in that price range is the Tikka.

I have one .375 H&H that I took to Africa
It was everything I wanted and more. The set trigger was excellent, but to be honest I didn't use it that much as the regular setting was more than adequate. I took 5 plains-game animals and with the exception of a very tough wildebeest, they were all 1-shot kills. The CZ is very accurate, reliable and a bargain compared to most other rifle-makers.

You will be very happy with a CZ 550.

I got the 550 Safari with the leaf sights. I put a Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x24 on it with red triangle on the post. That Trijicon came in very handy on a late-dusk kudu.

Absolutely. It was a death-ray there taking red hartebeest, zebra, gemsbok and a 900 lb kudu all with 1 shot kills. I used Remington 270 gr. Core-Lokt ammo on all of them. The blue wildebeest took 3 shots but the PH said I probably didn't need the 3rd. I dunno, the damn thing was trying to get up after the second shot knocked it flat. There's a reason they call them the poor man's cape buffalo. They are tough.
That said, when my pal use my 550 on his wildebeest, it dropped with 1 shot through the neck. He broke its neck with that shot.
re: using 375 H&H on Cape Buffalo, while it is legal to use on dangerous game, the .375 H&H is considered the minimum caliber to safely use. Please make sure you have good reliable solids and practice your shot placement.
Shooting the .375 won't beat you up so practice, while a tad expensive, is a lot of fun.

Many thanks for the help. I know the .375 is a minimum, but I am a decent shot and willing to practice a great deal to make the old H&H my "One World, One Rifle." If one shoots it really well, hopefully it would do the job. I can't afford to feed a Rigby.

I have a 527 Varmint Laminate in .223, a 550 in .243 and a 453 in 17 HMR and wouldn't trade any of them. The only drawback is they are a bit heavier than most but that in my book the quality built into them is more than worth the extra weight. They are extremely accurate and once you've tried the single set trigger there will be a big WTF smile on your face.

I have a 550 FS in 308. By far my favorite rifle I own. Decent trigger, shoots better than I, and the Turkish walnut stock is beautiful.

My favorite rifle is my 550 American in .308. I also have a Boyds tactical stock for it with a Harris bipod and ten round mag just to switch things up when I shoot with my Remington 700 fan boy brother. My next favorite is a 452 Ultra Lux. I with CZ would make the 527 7.62X39 in left hand.
