    Savage 111 30-06 scope issue

Got a savage 30-06 mounted a Nikon scope on it but can't seem to get a good eye picture. Needs to come back more but the rails or short tube on the scope won't allow any ideas on a new mount?

The scope needing to come BACK more is a sign that the stock is possibly too long for you.
Have someone show you how to check your length of pull.

If your length of pull is correct, the scope will not have any problem giving you a correct eye relief.

Get a pair of cantilever scope rings and your all set.
Here is a Savage 111 in 338 Norma Mag Improved.

While that is a lovely bedspread, there are no scope rings in your photo. Didya mean "rail"???

Agreed, a photo of OP's setup would help.

This... If fit is wrong, different rings will just be a bandaid on the issue.

              Bob
In an earlier post someone asked for a picture so I posted one.
If the scope doesn't sit back far enough cantilever rings are the answer.
If your rail and scope set up don't come back far enough a cantilever will fix the problem and is much cheaper than a new scope.
Length of pull from the factory is 13.5 exactly.
I need a factory 338 barrel for it if someone knows how to get one from Savage?

Find your scope rings at Brownells for secure, precise mounting of your optic. Choose from 89 products, including top brands like LEUPOLD, WARNE MFG. COMPANY, and WEAVER, for reliable performance in any shooting scenario.

You want cantilever not offset rings so look at the second picture.

How about switch the bases around so that the "locking channels" (or whatever they call the) are closest to the rear of the action?

How would cantilevered rings stop his scope's objective bell from hitting the front of the scope rail?

They add height and they shift the scope rearward both.

Adding height is not the way to go.
That creates a whole new problem...
