    Tikka T3 Sporter Choices???

I've decided I want a Tikka T3 Sporter (LH). I already have other rifles in .308/7.62 and .223/5.56 but no 260 Remingtons. Brass is affordable (not like .223 or .308) and available. So are other components so it's not a reloading issue. I have thousands of rounds of 7.62 match brass and a good amount of .223/5.56 brass as well as about 10# of 4895 and various small caliber powders.

So, it comes down to which of the 3 calibers, and barrel length. They are all available in 20" and 24" bbls. I'm not going to do anything particular with the rifle, I just want one.

What do you vote for...and why?

    Since you already have a .223and a .308, I would suggest the .260 with the 24" barrel.

The .260 is a sweet round to shoot all day. The recoil in a heavy, well adjusted Sporter is gentle.

A lot of experts will point out that the 20" barrel is a little castrating for that round. If you are shooting inside 600 yards or so it probably won't matter, but that round will go much longer, so you might just order up the 24" "in case".

An excellent rifle, very good trigger, the adjustable stock will spoil you, and the round is a winner.

    Good luck and have fun!
