    Pre war Win mod 70

Found a 1938 win mod 70 in 30-06 with a brite bore and original stock with curved steel butplate, not a collector grade but has a leupold 3x9 target dot with an old 2 screw redfield mount.

    $604.00 out the door.

Killer deal. Anything pre-war and not butchered is worth at least twice that much.

I just got home, not 2 hours ago, with a 1957 Model 70 Featherweight in 30-06I paid $800 and am one happy camper at that price!

Good on ya for the oldie!

Here is a pic of mine (kind of grainy, my phone hates me ...)

Already ordered a 20moa weaver one piece mount and have some rings (low and med) that should work out well.
got this Vortex Viper HS for a good price, but not sure I can really roll with a Vortex on a pre-'64. May have to throw a Loopy on here to respect tradition (or even a old weaver, but I have those and they are no comparison to modern scopes).
At any rate, pretty geeked on my new Elk slayer. Gonna be bittersweet. I will be leaving my trusty Ruger Number 1 and home for the first time in many years ...

          Enjoy your new rifle!

Good find. Nothing like a good ol Winchester 70.

Excellent finds by all! I am the very lucky owner of a decent Model 70 with a two-digit serial number, one that was passed down to my kids by a life-long friend. It was his father's, and has accounted for more Mule deer, elk, coyotes, and bear, than I will possibly know. His adult children had no interest, and would likely have turned it in for gift cards given the chance. Now it occupies a sacred space in the armory, never to be parted with in my lifetime, and my kids are connected to him through it as well. It is a 30-06 as well.
